For the uninitiated, the R4 allows you to download DS games online and play them on your DS. Yes, DS piracy. And now said piracy is threatened! So what does that mean? R4 sales are through the roof. Hell, even I bought one yesterday.

The R4 is sold all over the place in Akihabara, the nerd district of Tokyo, and the employees at stores there have already noticed an uptick in sales.

The rush in demand has been amazing. These devices always sell well. But this weekend should be staggering, don't you think?

Yes, I do think. So if you're on the fence about getting one or just discovered their existence thanks to this lawsuit, now seems like a pretty good time to jump on board. For, uh, homebrew games only, of course. [Kotaku]

Ricoh announced two digital cameras, the Caplio R4 and the Caplio RR630. The 6-megapixel R4 (left) has a 7.1x optical wide-angle zoom, which at 28-200mm (35mm equivalent) the company says is the largest range in the compact class. It also features image stabilization in a small form factor of 3.7 inches wide and just over an inch thick. It is a 2.5 inch viewfinder and will be available in silver or black in March at an unannounced price.

The RR630 is a 6.1-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom. It has a 2-inch LCD viewfinder, has a movie and a macro mode, and weighs just five ounces. Pricing or availability info was not available.

<![CDATA[ Panasonic W4 is the R4 with a Moustache ]]> panasonic-w4.jpgThe W4 from Panasonic has been released and it's basically the R4 with a different name. Different? The W4 has a 12.1" screen and a DVD-R/RW and RAM burner. That's all. Same Pentium M 1.2Ghz processor and DDR RAM. Even the hardware and chipset are the same. What gives Panasonic?
